High security datacentres
In all OVH datacentres, access is strictly monitored. To avoid any intrusions or risks, each perimeter is secured with barbed wire fences. The area is also monitored by constant video surveillance and motion detection sensors. Activity both within and outside of the datacentres is monitored and recorded on secure servers, with surveillance teams working on site, 24/7.
In order to control and monitor access to the OVH premises, strict security procedures have been put in place. Each staff member receives a RFID name badge, which is also used to restrict their access. Employee access rights are reassessed regularly, according to their remit. To access the premises, employees must hand in their badges for verification before passing through the security doors.
The datacentres have an even higher level of protection, as only authorised personnel can gain entry. OVH installations are strictly for our own use.
Fire risk management
Every datacentre room is fitted with a fire detection and extinguishing system, as well as fire doors. OVH complies with the APSAD R4 rule for the installation of mobile and portable extinguishers, and also has the N4 compliance certification for all our datacentres.
OVH deploys its fibre optic network across the globe. Cutting-edge hardware is selected, installed and maintained by in-house teams of engineers.
With our network, we can deliver fantastic service quality to all of our customers, no matter where they are based. The OVH network has a capacity of 8 Tbps in Europe, and 4 Tbps in North America. It is also connected to 33 points of presence across four continents. We have designed the OVH network to be fully redundant: several security loops have been put in place to eliminate any risk of services becoming unavailable. With this abundance of links, your data can take the shortest route, resulting in minimal latency and faster load times.
Technicians constantly monitor the datacentres, and are ready to react immediately in the event of an incident.
The OVH teams provide a human presence in the datacentres 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, to guarantee that the servers are constantly maintained. In the event of a technical incident, they will react immediately to ensure that your server is repaired as quickly as possible.
Some of the server ranges are also equipped with double power supplies and double network cards, so that the infrastructure is redundant from end to end.
OVH datacentres are powered by two separate electrical power supplies, and are also equipped with UPS devices. Power generators have an initial autonomy of 48hrs to counteract any electricity supply network failures.
Geographically distant datacentres
OVH has 27 datacentres: 15 in France, 6 in Canada, 1 in Poland, 1 in Germany, 1 in Australia, 1 in Singapore, 1 in the UK, and 1 in the US.
This enables OVH to guarantee continuous service, even in the event of a major incident. For example, the backup of web hosting data located in Paris is replicated every day on the Roubaix machines, while hubiC data is duplicated on three sites. OVH also offers dedicated server customers the option of carrying out data backups across multiple datacentres.
For our dedicated hosting services, we have integrated protection against all DDoS attack types. We have set up nine anti-DDoS infrastructures, with a capacity of 6x600Gps + 1x 240Gbps + 2x120Gbps in our datacentres.
This way, OVH can mitigate up to 4 Tbps, 24/7.
